Namakkal (Tamil Nadu): Facing family objection, two women who were reportedly in a same-sex relationship with each other, allegedly committed suicide in Tamil Nadu's Namakkal district.
Keerthi (name changed) and Swetha (name changed) reportedly worked at the same powerloom workshop. According to reports, Keerthi (23) was already married to a man and also had a three-year-old child.
The two women developed a friendship, and gradually got into a relationship. However, their families warned the couple after they came to know about their relationship.
According to the police's preliminary investigation, Swetha's (20) family had arranged her marriage after they came to know about her relationship. Just a day before her engagement was to take place, the distressed couple allegedly committed suicide. The two were found hanging from the same saree tied to the ceiling.
Meanwhile, the Elachipalayam Police have sent the bodies to the Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
