New Delhi: In an unexpected move, Tamil Nadu's opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)'s legislator Ku Ka Selvam met BJP's national president JP Nadda at his residence in New Delhi on Sunday and praised the BJP government for its efforts to construct Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Amid speculations that DMK MLA Selvam has planned to join the BJP, he reached Nadda's residence at 5.45 PM. The meeting between the DMK MLA and BJP leader had continued for nearly 30 minutes.
After the meeting, Selvam praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his government's effort for building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
"I had come to Delhi to meet Union Railways Minister Piyush Goel for getting escalators for Chennai's Nungambakkam Railway Station, which falls under my constituency. Already, the Union government had given a lift. So, I came here for thanking the Railway Minister as well as to ask the remaining one. As the BJP government is preparing for the 'Bhoomi-poojan for the Ram temple, I came to greet JP Nadda in person," Selvam told the media.

When asked whether he would join the BJP, Selvam denied and maintained that he came to meet only for his constituency needs.
The DMK legislator also demanded that Stalin should condemn people who humiliated Kantha Sashti Kavasam, a song praising Lord Murugan.
"Stalin should also conduct the intra-party elections for the DMK at the earliest. I request Centre to develop a Ram temple at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu," Selvam noted.
He also said that he has no displeasure with the DMK high-command.
The DMK and BJP have been indulging into the turf war ahead of the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls. Selvam's meeting with the Nadda has come as an embarrassment to DMK leadership according to the political observers.
Selvam said that he would not worry if the DMK high-command takes any disciplinary actions against him.
"I am not worried about the consequences of meeting the BJP president. I am ready to take what may come," he told reporters.
