Dindigul (Tamil Nadu): The Tamil Nadu cyber crime police has arrested a con artist who was defrauding people by pretending to be an Assistant Commissioner of Police. The accused, identified as Vijayan, was using Facebook to cheat people.
The accused was working in the media field from 2014 to 2015. During this time, he clicked pictures with several high ranking officials including various state chief ministers and senior police officials. He then used these pictures to increase his influence on social media and develop his social media circle.
Following that, he started posting pictures of himself in police uniform and coupled with his fluency in English created the illusion of being an Assistant Commissioner of Police. The accused was using his fake identity to dupe people over social media.

In the scenario of Vijayan's arrest, the cybercrime police investigation team has revealed that more than 30 women have unfriended him on Facebook and numerous pictures had been deleted on Facebook.
The police have filed a case of fraud and Vijayan has been remanded to custody by the Nilakottai Court.
