Chennai: A man named Balaji who is a lift operator in a government hospital in Chennai was hit by a police jeep on Monday.
Balaji is a resident of the Vivekanandar Illam area in Chennai. On Monday afternoon, when he went out to Triplicane for having tea, his bike was hit from the rear by a police jeep. The man's leg was fractured in the accident.
The people around the area stopped the jeep and caught the driver.
Later, they found out that the driver was a policeman and he was heavily intoxicated, following which they thrashed him badly.
Anna traffic police rushed to the spot as soon as they received the information about the incident.
They admitted Balaji to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital and rescued the driver from the mob.
According to police, a case has been registered against the policeman driving the jeep.
