Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Unidentified persons reportedly hurled petrol bombs at the house of a local Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) functionary in Central Chennai parliamentary constituency on Friday damaging a car parked within the premise of the house.
An official said CCTV footage showed the suspects wearing helmets moving towards the house of the functionary.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against unknown persons.
"No casualties have been reported. Investigation is underway," said the official.
DMK candidate in Central Chennai Lok Sabha seat and former union minister Dayanidhi Maran condemned the incident saying it was to impede the party's poll prospects in the April 18 elections.
He accused allies of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leader TTV Dhinakaran of conspiring the attack.
