Chennai: True love is not only seen in plays and novels, but also in non-fictional world. In a very rare incident, a wife died after hearing about her husband's death on Saturday at Thirumullaivoyal in Chennai. This shows that true love can actually last a lifetime.
According to sources, Elumalai (85) and, wife Rajammal (60) both used work for their livelihood. Due to health issues, the elderly couple have been staying at home for the last few days.
Elumalai died at home on Friday, and after hearing her husband's death, Rajammal also breathed her last within ten minutes.
The grief gripped the village following the incident. The shocked villagers later made arrangements for the couple’s last rites. The locals visited to pay last respect to the couple, whose death glorifies true love and sets an example for others.
The bodies were taken in a procession to the village crematorium and were consigned to flames together. News of the couple’s deaths saddened residents of Thirumullaivoyal as the two were known for their deep love for each other.
