Tirunelveli: A woman police officer who put aside her personal tragedy to lead the Independence Day parade on Saturday in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli is garnering much appreciation.
As the country celebrates 74th Independence Day, the district administration organized the flag hoisting programme in which District collector Shilpa Prabhakar hoisted the flag in VOC stadium, Tirunelveli and Police Inspector Maheswari led the parade during the ceremony.
After the ceremony, it was revealed that Maheswari's father expired the previous day.
Maheswari who is with Armed Reserve had rehearsed for the event. As the news of her father's demise arrived, she realised that changing the parade officer at the eleventh hour was going to be tasking.
She decided to attend the ceremony and completed the parade putting up a strong face. As soon as the ceremony was completed, she rushed back to her native place to attend the final rites of her father. Maheshwari's husband Balamurugan is working in the intelligence unit of state police.
Other cops heaped praises on Maheshwari for her commendable job.
