Krishnagiri: Amid protests against the new citizenship law and proposed nationwide NRC, a Bangladeshi man along with his family members was arrested by Taluk police station here in Tamil Nadu after a complaint was filed by village administrative officer of Kothapetta.
The police nabbed Iqbal Mullah for illegally staying in the country along with his wife Thaslima and his daughters Thonni Mullah and Munni Mullah. They were also accompanied by Thaslima's friend Luckiey.
According to police, Iqbal has been suffering from mouth cancer and he migrated to India for treatment.
Initially, he received treatment from Mumbai at the instance of his friend Imran, a resident of Kolkata. Imran advised them to move to Chennai for further treatment. The family was staying in Kothapetta in Chennai.
The village administrative officer informed the police that Iqbal entered India without a passport/visa.
Iqbal along with his kids are in Puzhal jail.
