Tuticorin: In a gesture of positive disposition towards life, ten couple infected with HIV got married at Anandapuram near Sathankulam in Tuticorin district on Sunday. District Collector, Sandeep Nanduri was the chief guest and blessed the couples.
Calvary Chapel Trust in Anandapuram is working among the HIV infected people and they have been sheltering children affected by the disease. Many of the children, with the help of the trust, studied and settled in jobs.
Under these circumstances, the trust has decided to arrange the wedding of these beneficiaries based on their personal interest. The wedding arrangements were made and marriages were solemnised.
Addressing the event, Nanduri said that it is heartening to see that HIV affected are not confined to their fate but carry on with their life with a good job and education. He also advised the other beneficiaries to look at life with hope and carry on with their studies.
The social workers working among AIDS patients were honoured during the event. The district collector also inaugurated a community hall and the hostel constructed by the trust later.
