Wear mask or go to jail, warns Rajasthan govt

The Rajasthan government has issued new guidelines for the Covid-19 lockdown to allow industries and enterprises to operate from April 20. However, the government has made it clear that it is mandatory to wear masks while keeping social distance during the relaxation given in the modified lockdown.

Jaipur: A modified lockdown is being implemented from Monday to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection as well as to fulfill other requirements.

Under this, industries, government offices and important shops will be opened. In some cases with relaxation, while in others, there will be more strictness than before.

The government has made it clear that it is mandatory to wear masks while keeping social distance during the relaxation given in the modified lockdown.

The state government has issued another order late Sunday evening to strictly abide by its April 9-order to wear masks.

According to the order issued by the Chief Secretary, action will be taken under Section-51 of Disaster Management Act 2005 for not wearing masks. Failure to order a mask can lead to a jail term of up to one year or a fine or both. The district administration and other officials including police have been directed to comply with the order.

If a consumer has not worn a mask, the shopkeeper will not sell anything to him/her. Neither will they be allowed to enter the shop. Not more than two consumers will be allowed in a small shop and more than 5 in a big shop at a given time.

Home delivery, e-commerce company, courier services will be encouraged to provide the service.

It will be mandatory to wear face masks in public places, offices, workplaces. Social distancing has to be followed as well.

Marriages and funerals will take place with the permission of the District Magistrate. Spitting in public places will be punishable. There will be a strict ban on the sale of tobacco, alcohol and gutkha.

Along with this, adequate arrangements will have to be made to check the temperature at all workplaces. There will be an interval of 1 hour between shifts at the workplace. All organizations have to sanitize their worksites in the middle of shifts.
