Churu (Rajasthan): Yoga is said to be quite powerful. It is believed to be one of the greatest gifts left to us by the ancient Indian tradition. It is a symbol of unity of the mind and body. Yoga is the harmony between man and nature.
This is the story of Shivbhagvan Bhakar, who lives in Pichkarai Tal village of Sardarshahar Tehsil here.
This 74-year-old man can still run in a manner that never ceases to astound youngsters. He can perform difficult yoga postures that will leave you shell-shocked.
Shivbhagvan was once very unwell as he was suffering from many diseases but he stated that yoga came to his rescue and now he is fit and fine.
He suffered from two heart attacks in 2001 following which his life became heavily dependent on medicines. His doctors also restricted his diet. Shivbhagvan, being extremely concerned about his condition, started to look for some other way to get rid of his disease. He was inspired by Baba Ramdev and slowly started to practice yoga at his home.
It was in 2007, that he decided to go to the Patanjali yoga camp in order to understand yoga better and his life completely changed.
Since 2007, Shivbhavan has been getting up at 4 am and runs for 2km every day. He then practices yoga and various other exercises for 3 hours. He stated that due to the magic of yoga, he has managed to cure himself of all his diseases. Now, he does not need to consume any medicine.
Reportedly, Shivbhagvan has been wearing spectacles since the age of 38. Now, he does not need them anymore. After his heart attack in 2001, he was told by doctors that if he ever consumed ghee or had over 100gm of milk then it would prove to be very harmful to his health. Once he was discharged, he ate the medicines prescribed to him till 3 months but they proved to be futile. Shivbhagvan said that after practising yoga, there are no restrictions on his diet.
He drinks around 2 to 3 litres of milk every day and has as much ghee as he pleases. Villagers informed that Shivbhagvan takes part in many running race competitions around the village and easily manages to defeat the young people in the race. He also loves his cows a lot.
He inspires youngsters to do yoga
Shivbhagvan explains the importance of yoga to the youth and tells them about how it reduces mental stress. Now, these young men and women are eagerly practising yoga. He teaches yoga to people around his area as well, for which he will be awarded on this International Yoga Day. Shivbhagvan believes that if people of all ages perform yoga for at least an hour every day, they won’t have any diseases.
