Six held as Rajasthan police bust cyber thug gang

Rajasthan police have busted a cyber thug gang and arrested six people for duping a man of over Rs 7 lakh. The police have also recovered 500 active SIM cards and cash from their possession.

Jaipur: In a spate of cybercrimes across the country, yet another case has come to the fore in Rajasthan's Jaipur where the police busted a cyber thug gang and arrested six people for duping a man of over Rs 7 lakh.

The police have also recovered as many as 500 active SIM cards and cash to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession.

According to the reports, A petrol pump operator Rajiv Chaudhary had registered a case of fraud at the Samod police station saying that he received as many as 22 messages on his mobile phone and later Rs 7.19 lakh was deducted from his account.

After the complaint, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Saraswat formed a team and apprehended the fraudsters.

The accused persons have been identified as Manoj Mahapatra, Pawan Kumar, Rachit Verma, Sunny Sharma, Akhil Kumar and Ankit Kumar.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, SP Saraswat said that all the six accused are on the remand and the police are trying to recover more stuff from them.

"We have recovered SIM cards and cash from their possession. They have high-end phones, bikes and they often travel by air so it can be said that they have duped people of crores over the period of time," Sharma said.

He further said that they used to supply the SIM cards across the country and also to Nepal. They used to provide SIM cards without any document.

The investigation is underway as the police are collecting information about account numbers and phone numbers with the help of cyber police, the SP added.
