Jodhpur: A man was booked by Rajasthan police on Wednesday for allegedly raping a woman for several days after promising to marry her.
The accused has been identified as a resident of Mahamandir locality in Jodhpur.
According to police, the accused maintained a physical relationship with the victim by promising to marry her. He had allegedly captured intimate moments with the girl with on his mobile phone without her knowledge.
Soon, the man started threatening the girl that he would post the obscene videos and continued to rape her on the same pretext. The accused had also allegedly extorted money from her by showing her the pictures that he was able to capture.
He also threatened to send videos to all her family members if she failed to fulfil his monetary demands. Unable to bear the harassment, she filed a police complaint.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ashish Kumar, SHO, Mahamandir PS said, "When the accused cut all contacts with the survivor, she approached police on Wednesday to lodge a complaint against him. The victim stated in her complaint that she came in contact with the accused more than a year ago. She alleged that the accused promised to marry her and outraged her modesty. The accused repeatedly raped her on the promise of marriage."
"After a year when she pressurised him to marry her the accused blocked all contacts with the girl. A rape case was registered against the accused under the relevant section of IPC and efforts are on to nab the accused. The victim has been sent to Jodhpur DHH for medical examination. The rape accused, however, is still at large," he added.
