Rajasthan to vaccinate people aged between 35 and 44 years old from May 1

The state government has announced vaccination for above 18-years from May 1, however, due to lack of supply, Rajasthan will vaccinate people between 35 and 44 years of age from tomorrow. Rajasthan's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Raghu Sharma added that the state needs to vaccinate around 3 crore people and has placed an order for 3.75 crore vaccine vials.

Jaipur: The central government has announced vaccination for above 18-years from May 1, however, due to lack of supply, Rajasthan will vaccinate people between 35 and 44 years of age from tomorrow.

Rajasthan's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Raghu Sharma added that the state needs to vaccinate around 3 crore people and has placed an order for 3.75 crore vaccine vials. However, the Serum Institute of India has only assured or providing only 3 lakh doses of vaccines.

In light of the situation, the Minister informed that if the vaccines reach Jaipur today, then the vaccination drive will start from tomorrow. He also mentioned that at the moment, 9 districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur and Jodhpur are facing a shortage of vaccines amid the rising coronavirus cases. Therefore, at present Rajasthan will only vaccinate people between 35 to 44 years of age from May 1.

At the same time, Rajasthan will continue the vaccination drive for 45 years and above. In the last 24 hours, 1,11,493 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the state. As per statistics, Rajasthan has vaccinated the first dose to 45,14,134 beneficiaries above the age of 45 years. While another 2,72,649 beneficiaries have received the second doses. Rajasthan has to date vaccinated 1,29,13,020 beneficiaries.
