Rajasthan has no more vaccines, says the state's Health Minister

Rajasthan Health Minister, Dr Raghu Sharma has informed the media that the state's quota of 1 crore vaccines is over, putting a halt to the vaccination drive. The minister has further revealed that the state is seeking more vaccines from the central government.

Bhilwara: Rajasthan's Health Minister, Dr Raghu Sharma, has informed the media that the state has finished its quota of 1 crore vaccines assigned by the Center. The state has no more vaccines and therefore cannot continue the vaccination drive. He further added that the state has to put up boards at every vaccination centres for the unavailability of vaccines and suspension of the vaccination drive.

The minister further quipped that Prime Minister Modi has gone silent in the light of rising coronavirus cases in Rajasthan. He further added that whenever the state government discuss the issue of availability of vaccines, the central government deflect the issue, sighting several excuses. Citing concern about the new strain of Covid and rising death rates, the health minister added that the state is in dire needs of funds and vaccines. Rajasthan has the capacity to vaccinate 7 lakh people per day but vaccines are not available.

The minister has also asked the central government to supply more vaccines to Rajasthan so that the state government can restart the vaccination drive. The minister also added that at present people above 45 are getting vaccines whereas people above 18 years are getting more infected by Covid-19 and therefore, vaccines should be administered to people above 18 as well.
