Rajasthan priest murder case: Ministers make a beeline to provide relief amid flaring politics

Politicians line up to extend help to the bereaved family as political tension escalates in Rajasthan following the murder of a priest. However, Rajasthan CM said that the incident was not an ethnic conflict or a pre-planned episode. It was a quarrel between two families over possession of a piece of land, which turned into a heart-wrenching incident.

Karauli (Rajasthan): Several ministers on Monday reached the victim's house in Rajasthan as politics over the killing of a priest escalated tension across the state.

As representatives of the government, Sports Minister, Ashok Chandna, Chief Whip, Mahesh Joshi and local MLA, Ramesh Meena reached the victim's house. While comforting the relatives, he handed over a cheque thereby extending financial help. He further gave the family an appointment letter for a contractual job.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has directed for CB-CID probe into the incident, police on the other hand have so far arrested two accused.

BJP on Monday lashed out at the Rajasthan govt, however, CM Ashok Gehlot retorted stating that it is condemnable that BJP tried to make the tragic incident of Bukna village a caste war between Meena and Vaishnav communities. "This has undermined the image of Rajasthan unnecessarily," he added.

The Chief Minister said that the incident was not an ethnic conflict or a pre-planned episode. It was a quarrel between two families over possession of a piece of land, which turned into a heart-wrenching incident.

CID-CB Superintendent of Police, Vikas Kumar along with his team reached Bukna village on Monday. Here he visited the crime scene and collected evidences, media was not allowed at the spot.

CM Gehlot attacking UP govt in a tweet wrote that an incident had happened in Rajasthan, police took prompt action and arrested the prime accused. He said the UP govt should follow his footsteps in the incident of Gonda.

The temple priest who was allegedly burnt alive by six men during a scuffle over the encroachment of a temple land at Bukna village in Sapotra last Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries a day later.
