Jaipur: Rajasthan Police have stepped up action against posters being displayed about migration of local Hindus in the Kishanpole area in Jaipur. A case has been registered against unknown persons for attempting to disrupt peace by spreading religious hatred and creating enmity between two communities. Now, police is looking out for people who had put up the posters in this area.

Kotwali police station officer Omprakash said that a case has been registered on the report of ASI Kirpal Singh. Singh, in his report, stated that on Saturday when he reached Purohitji ka Chowk on Kalyanji Road, posters were displayed on the walls of houses and public installations. On these posters it was written that 'Local Hindus are being forced to flee from Kishanpole; Responsible: Congress councilor Farid Qureshi, Ward 69'. A videography has also been done in this connection. Police said investigations were underway and search is on for those who pasted the posters.

A few days back, Omprakash Pareek, a resident of Kishanpole, had filed a complaint at the Kotwali police station alleging that some people were trying to create trouble in the area by calling his house a temple. After this, posters were put up in the area over migration of Hindus.

Police said the entire matter is related to the sale and purchase of a house. Pareek sold his house to a relative of councilor Farid Qureshi after getting a good price. But, local people opposed this and afterwards posters were put up. Police, however, has ruled out allegations of Hindu migration.

The matter has triggered a political uproar in the area. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has termed the incident to be a fallout of the Ashok Gehlot government's appeasement policy while the Congress attributed BJP's statements to their nervousness of losing ground.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said not only Kishanpole, there are similar incidents in many parts of Rajasthan. In the last four and a half years, the Ashok Gehlot government has done nothing apart from appeasement, he added.
