Rajasthan: Old man murders wife after scuffle, then kills self

An old man murdered his wife and later killed self in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. An investigation into the incident is underway, police said.

Jaipur: A 75 year-old man allegedly killed his wife and wounded himself with a knife in Bhiwadi city of Rajasthan, an official said on Saturday.

"According to the preliminary investigation, it appears that a scuffle broke out between the elderly couple. Following this, the man attacked his wife with a knife and later wounded himself. As soon as we got information, we rushed to the spot.

On reaching, we found the 66 year-old woman dead. The old man was critically wounded. He was admitted to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries," SHO Phoolbag Bhiwadi, Ravindra Pratap said.

He further added that the cause of the murder has not been ascertained and the probe is underway. Higher authorities have been informed about the incident and the bodies will be sent for post-mortem, the officer said.

"I couldn't believe my eyes, people in the complex got afraid. We immediately informed the police. When I came to the spot I saw the old woman lying on the floor and the old man constantly hurting himself with a knife. I couldn't figure out if she was dead. Police officials are investigating the matter and the reason of murder will be known very soon," said Ravi Sharma, the guard of the colony.
