Jaipur (Rajasthan): In a major development, the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan has decided to withdraw all the pending cases in connection with the Gurjar agitation of 2008.
According to reports, the government took the decision after the meeting with representatives from the Gurjar Sangharsh Samiti, which demanded that the remaining cases slapped against Gurjars be withdrawn immediately.
In this regard, DIG, CID (Crime Branch) Surendra Kumar Gupta has reportedly directed all the district police departments to immediately initiate the process of withdrawing the cases.
Multiple cases were slapped against Gurjars for damaging public property and violence during the 2008 agitation. The Rajasthan CID was investigating the case.
A letter from the office of the DG (Crime Branch) was sent to the police departments in Sawaimadhopur, Alwar, Dausa, Bharatpur, Sikar, Ajmer, Bundi, Jhunjhunu, Tonk, and Jaipur Rural districts.

The letter stated that the information regarding all the cases was being sent from Jaipur, and that the process for withdrawal of the cases must be initiated.
According to reports, representatives from the Gurjar Sangharsh Samiti held talks with top police officials on June 29. The Gurjar representatives said that out of the 750 cases originally lodged, 56 were still pending. They had demanded that the cases be immediately withdrawn.
