New Delhi: Supreme Court has dismissed the plea filed by a student's parent seeking cancellation of remaining board exams for class 10 which are scheduled to be conducted on 29th and 30th June.

The bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar was hearing a plea filed by a mother of class 10th student from Bikaner who sought cancellation of exams in view of the coronavirus.

The top court observed that the petition has been filed in the last moment while the government has taken all precautionary measures for corona and there is no mentioning of any major inconvenience by the petitioner as well.

The plea cited the recent Supreme Court decision in the CBSE plea after which the centre decided not to go ahead with the remaining CBSE exams for class 10 and 12.

The top court also stated that there have been no positive cases were located in the examination centres in the last one month. It also said that the state government is taking all due precaution to ensure students' safety.

The observations also cited a recent judgement in Rajshree vs Karnataka case where Justice LN Rao had said that the courts should have minimum interference in academic issues.

A special bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice Sanjiv Khanna heard the plea around 6:30 pm today which is a non-working day for the court.
