Jodhpur: Farmers, who have been on sit-in protest for over a month in various rural areas of the district, and the family members of the young student leader Pukhraj Chaudhary, who fell ill during the protest and died while being treated, have urged the state government to confer the status of martyr to the deceased and provide financial help to the bereaved family.
Farmers have been protesting in Osian, Mathania and Manaklao areas of the district asking the government to consider and fulfil their demands.
Meanwhile, after the death of the student leader, who was there to support farmers, demand for declaring him a martyr and financial help for the affected family has also been added to the existing list of demands of the farmers.
However, police said that they will investigate if Pukhraj Chaudhary was actually a part of the protest.
