PM Modi inaugurates Rs 5500 crore worth infrastructure projects in Rajasthan

In a boost to infrastructure development in the state Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 5500 crore in Rajasthan.

Jaipur: In a major push to infrastructure development in the desert state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 5500 crore in the state. He emphasised that the BJP government is focusing on modern infrastructure development in the state.

"I congratulate the people of Rajasthan for these development projects. Our government is focusing on providing modern infrastructure in Rajasthan," he said. Earlier in the day, PM Modi offered prayers at the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara town of Rajasthan's Rajsamand district.

In a statement drafted by the PMO, officials mentioned that roads and railway help in facilitating the movement of goods and services, boosting trade and commerce and improving the socio-economic conditions of the people in the region.

Among the road projects, PM Modi will upgrade the two-lane road in Rajsamand and Udaipur and redeveloped the Udaipur railway station. Modi also inaugurate three national highway projects, including 114-km long six lane Udaipur to Shamlaji section of NH-48, 110-km long widening and strengthening to 4 lane with paved shoulder of Bar-Bilara-Jodhpur Section of NH-25, and 47 km long two lane with paved shoulder section of NH 58E.

The prime minister will also be visiting Shantivan complex of Brahma Kumaris, a religious organisation. The PMO noted that a special focus of the prime minister has been on giving impetus to spiritual rejuvenation across the country. He will lay the foundation stone of a super speciality charitable global hospital, second phase of Shivmani old age home and extension of nursing college.

The hospital will be set up in Abu Road, spread across an area of 50 acres. It will offer world-class medical facilities and will prove especially beneficial for the poor and the tribal people in the region, it said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara town of Rajasthan's Rajsamand district. Eighteen Brahmin students and some priests recited vedic mantras as the prime minister paid obeisance. Modi later handed over 'prasad' to the Brahmins as 'dakshina' at the Lalan Chowk in the temple. Temple officials also felicitated the prime minster and handed over a turban and prasad to him.

Earlier, people lined up on both sides of the road and showered flowers on the prime minister's cavalcade en route to the temple. They also raised slogans in support of Modi.
