Barmer(Rajasthan): The Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police and CID-CB have arrested a person from Barmer for sending sensitive intelligence inputs regarding Indian military to Pakistan.
Intelligence agencies have detained a suspect on charges of espionage for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. The suspect works as a wage worker in the border area and was on the radar of security agencies for a long time.
It is alleged that the accused was sending crucial information related to the forces across the border through social media. Intelligence and security agencies have taken him into custody from Bijral police station in Barmer district, after which he has been taken to Jaipur.
Upon the examination of suspects social media account, the police have also found several objectionable information related to Indian Army which he had sent to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). No other information has been found regarding the suspect yet.
Earlier, a 36-year-old man, suspected of spying for Pakistan, was arrested by the security officials near the International Border in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
The Person was identified as - Nawab Khan, a local residing in Sam area. Preliminary investigation revealed that Khan was involved in espionage activities and was working as a jeep driver. Additional Director General (Intelligence) Umesh Mishra said that Khan used to share the 'coded' information to his handlers in Pakistan through WhatsApp, in lieu of money.
In recent years, social media has become the biggest weapon for spies, through which important information related to the Indian Army is being sent to enemy forces.
