Alwar (Rajasthan): Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said that there is no plan to privatise Indian railways operation and this is the wrong information of the opposition party.
The minister has inaugurated the newly electrified Dhigawara-Bandikui section under the North Western Railway at the Dhigawara railway station in Rajasthan's Alwar district on Sunday.
Refuting the matter of privatisation of railways, Minister said that the government is not working to privatise the national transporter as the Railways is the property of the country.
Speaking to reporters here, Goyal said, "Work is being done in a positive manner on behalf of Railways. In such a gloomy situation, the Railways set a unique example. The trains are being started after the consent of the state government and there is no question of privatisation of Railways."
"Privatisation of railways is only propaganda of opposition parties. Railways are the property of India and will remain the property of the Government of India. Many projects have been initiated by the Railways and freight trains and passenger trains are being run as per the requirement. Apart from running both of them, investment work is also being done by the Railways from time to time," he said.
"The work of developing the industrial area with trains is also going on fast as Alwar is an industrial hub. There are thousands of industrial units in Alwar. This place will be connected with (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor) project and people will get employment here," he added.
