Hyderabad: Rajasthan deputy chief minister and Congress leader, Sachin Pilot, claimed that the transmission of virus is restricted to urban areas including Kota, Jaipur and Jodhpur in the state and spread in rural areas is low because of the pro-active containment steps taken in the aftermath of COVID-19 crisis.
"If the virus spreads in rural areas, it would be difficult to contain because of the lack of proper health infrastructure," Pilot said speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat.
Rajasthan deputy CM stated that rural centric approach is needed to contain the virus in India's villages and the policy focus should be on improve agriculture, industries in rural areas to boost the ailing economy.

"We are trying to ensure that even in containment zones the essential supplies are delivered on door steps. We have further curtailed the movement of all, including media persons, NGOs and even the police," Pilot added.

Pilot stressed on increasing the testing, shoring up the health infrastructure and destigmatising the virus. Speaking on rural economy and empowering the panchayaths, Pilot stressed on policy making taking villages at its centre.
