On 25 May, a person identified as Ranjit, who is the personal security guard of VC, called the complainant and met him next day demanding Rs 2 lakh for Singh's approval on the file.

Ranjit also sought a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from Mahipal Singh Chaudhary of Kanha College Merta City on behalf of the VC for the allocation of examination centre at the Engineer Rahul Mirdha Memorial College in Nagaur. The deal was however fixed for Rs 3 lakh.

On Monday, Ranjit and Mahipal were arrested during the bribe deal with the amount of Rs lakh 20 thousand at VC's residence. ACB later arrested Singh after interrogating Ranjit. All of them will be produced before the court and ACB will be seeking their remand.

Following Singh's arrest, Raj Bhawan is also waiting for government's nod to remove him from the post of Vice-Chancellor under relevant Acts.

Vice-chancellor removal proceedings will be held for the second time in the university.

Earlier, ACB caught Prof. Satish Aggarwal of the Department of Management red-handed on 15 October 2018. Aggarwal was taking a bribe of Rs 50 thousand from a researcher. His suspension was issued by the then Governor and Chancellor Kalyan Singh, after a high-level consultation in the case.
