Bundi: The district administration in Rajasthan's Bundi district has taken to a unique measure to fend off the huge locust swarms.
Police vans, fire trucks and other vehicles were seen roaming around the town blowing sirens to scare away the locust swarms.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, District Collector Antar Singh Nehra said that the Agriculture Department is already vigilant about the locusts and the Bundi locust control room has also been set up.
He further said that wherever locusts will stop late at night, chemical spraying will be done there.
It is to be noted that the locust attack is another blow to farmers already reeling under the impact of COVID-19.
Recently the Agriculture Department used drones to monitor the movement of the locusts in different parts of the state.
The desert locust is a species of locust, a swarming short-horned grasshopper. They are known to devour everything in their path, posing an unprecedented threat to food supply and livelihoods of millions of people.
