Jaipur boy makes unique portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

On National Integration Day today, every countryman will remember Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. But a seven-year-old from Jaipur has made a unique portrait in his remembrance. The portrait was made with paper quillings from 1600 paper strips of 0.5 × 30 cm. It took him more than two months to finish the artwork.

Jaipur: With schools shut due to the pandemic, children have taken to extra-curricular activities to keep themselves engaged and motivated. Jayaditya Gautam from the pink city utilised his time to learn the art of paper quilling and making portraits out of the technique.

The seven-year-old has now amazed everyone with the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that he has made using the paper quilling technique.

Jayaditya says it took him two months to finish the artwork that includes 1600 paper strips of 0.5 × 30 cm each. Each of the strips then was hand-rolled and stuck to form the portrait. The face in the artwork includes paper-strips of different colours to give a proper shade and after relentless efforts and perseverance, Jayaditya finally set a record by creating this 44 × 28 inches portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Inspired by sister

Creating a portrait is not an easy task for a young child. Jayaditya got the full support of his family. At the same time, he did this amazing by being inspired by his grandmother and sister. At such a young age, by making portraits like a trained artist, he has amazed everyone.

In a special conversation with ETV Bharat, Jayaditya, a class 2 student said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is Iron Man of India and the artwork he has made is dedicated to Patel's memory.

Jayaditya's mother Dr Anita Gautam said that she is proud of her son when I see my children doing this, I feel very happy. Because there was a very difficult time in lockdown when the children could not get out and were imprisoned in the houses. In such a situation, creativity was one way to keep children away from smartphones or TVs. This is the reason why Jayaditya has created this incredible portrait today.

Jayaditya's sister record-holder

Jayaditya's sister Sanvi Gautam has also set a world record by making portraits earlier and now the younger brother is also following his sister's footsteps. Sanvi says that Sardar Patel was the founder of the Republic of India and played a key role in guiding the country to independence.

Sardar Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister of India and the first Home Minister, merged 565 princely states into one nation with his foresight, cleverness, prudence, amazing diplomatic skills and policy. Jayaditya has perfected his hidden art by making his portrait.

Seeing this unique 44 × 28 inch portrait of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, everyone is appreciating Jayaditya Gautam. Jayaditya's relatives have applied for the India Book of Records for this unique portrait.

Sardar Patel was born in Karamsad in Gujarat on October 31. His birthday is also celebrated as the National Integration Day because after the independence of India, he helped to create unified India by uniting 562 princely.
