Kota (Rajasthan): The infant mortality rate in Rajasthan's J K Lone Hospital at Kota which crossed 110 in last December suddenly drops to 25 in January.
According to reports, while there were 6646 infants who have died in the last six years, suddenly the number of infant death reduced to 25 in the last 15 days in J K Lone.

If the average of the last 6 years has been taken, then the case of death of three children was being reported daily, whereas, in the last 15 days, the case of death of just 25 children has been reported which means an average of one and a half children are dying every day.
The new data manifests that the effort made by the authority to improve the infant mortality rate in the J K Lon hospital at Kota finally worked well.
Besides this, it is also the government which has paid attention to the tragedy of newborns death in Kota helped to improve the infant mortality rate.
Dr Gopi Kishan, the Deputy Superintendent of the hospital says that in the last 7 years the statistics of infant death was 63 in 2013, 81 in 2014, 100 in 2015, 90 in 2016, 71 in 2017, 58 in 2018 and 72 in 2019.
The children were killed in a large number for so long. Surprisingly, in the last 15 days, only 25 children have died.
Centralized oxygen starts in NICU and FBNC
Earlier there was no facility of centralized oxygen line which caused less supply of oxygen to the newborns, due to which a possibility of infection to the newborns always remains there.
The good news is that to handle the child mortality rate, the hospital management has fixed the connection of the centralized oxygen line. From Wednesday oxygen has been supplied to the NICU and FBNC through the line.
Emergency PICU and NICU will start in 5 days
After the uproar in JK Lone Hospital, the state government has talked about sanctioning 27 crore rupees to build a new OPD and indoor block, in which 156-bed indoor is being built.
According to which there will be the facility of 90 beds in General, 36 beds in NICU and 30 beds in PICU.
However, the hospital management has already started two emergency units which are NICU and PICU especially to treat the newborns. Both the units have started working in full swing for 4 to 5 days.

Changes have been made, but a long way to go
Superintendent of the hospital Dr SC Dulara said that he has made a lot of changes to improve the condition of the hospital especially in regards to infant mortality. To prevent cold air coming from outsides which creates disturbances for the infants has been fixed. The management has made various improvements begin from cleanliness to maintain a child-friendly atmosphere.
Dulara further said that all the necessary equipment which have required for children care unit installed into the hospital. Besides, equipment which needed to be repaired have been sent for CMC and AMC.
He, however, informed that many MLAs announced to contribute money for the newborns though only three of them have given the money to the hospital management.
Meanwhile, a lot of improvement has been done by the authority but it's being a long way to go to assure the prevention of newborns death which takes place in J KI Lone.
