Indian Army man shoots self-dead in Rajasthan

An Indian Army soldier Naik Rajesh Kumar committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Jodhpur Army Cantonment. The official said that the motive behind the extreme step was not known immediately.

Jodhpur (Rajasthan): An Indian Army soldier allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Rajasthan's Jodhpur Army Cantonment on Sunday morning.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Rajesh Kumar (28) of Odisha. He was posted as Naik in 103 Air Defence in Shikargarh.

According to Army officials, Kumar, the army man of 103 Air Defence posted at Shikargarh shot himself while he was on duty this morning.

Following the gunshot, the colleagues rushed towards the army man and found him in a pool of blood, they said, adding that the army man was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

On being informed about the incident, the Ratanada police reached the spot. The body was then sent to the MGH hospital for post-mortem. However, the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be clear, the police officials said.

Reportedly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and detailed investigation into the incident is underway, sources in the police added.
