Gujjars demanding reservation continue their stir in Raj

Bundi: Members of the Gujjar community continued their sit-in protest on National Highway 140 D in Rajasthan's Topa village on Monday.

As traffic movements virtually came to a standstill on NH-140, vehicles were diverted to other routes. The demonstrators, however, allowed the passage of ambulance and vehicles with patients.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have cancelled transport services in this route.

The reluctant agitators blocked the highway and spent the whole night in the tent.

However for some agitators protest is an occasion to celebrate. Several agitators were seen dancing and drinking on DJ music while for others it proved an occasion to relish food.

Meanwhile, security forces led by additional SP Dasrath Singh were deployed at the spot for taking law and order under their command.

According to sources, the Gujjars have even decided to block Jetpur via Bundi road until their demand for five percent reservation is met.
