Former Rajasthan BJP chief Bhanwar Lal Sharma cremated in Jaipur

Veteran BJP leader and former state president Bhanwar Lal Sharma passed away on Friday, and his last rites were performed at the cremation ground of Chandpol in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Saturday.

Jaipur: The last rites of a veteran politician and former Rajasthan President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bhanwar Lal Sharma were performed at a cremation ground at Chandpol in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Saturday.

His son performed the last rites. Leaders from various political parties, friends, followers, and admirers attended the cremation.

BJP state president Satish Poonia consoled Sharma's family members at his residence and said the death is a "personal loss" for him and the party.

Poonia said, "Bhanwar Lal Sharma had a major contribution to the development of the state and in strengthening the party. He believed in simplicity and never used a government bungalow or car while he was an MLA and minister."

Sharma, 95, held portfolios such as higher education, housing, and sports, among others, during his political career.
