Five killed, as many injured in twin car accidents in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh

The accidents took place near Chanibari village of Hanumangarh while the two speeding cars were negotiating a curve.

Hanumangarh: In a tragic incident, five people died while as many others were injured after two cars they were traveling in met with accidents in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan on Monday, officials said. It is learnt that the two cars overturned down a gorge near Chanibari village of Hanumangarh on Monday.

An official said that the drivers of the speeding cars met with the accident while negotiating a curve. ASI Kaluram said that a speeding car overturned and fell into the gorge in the area. Another car right behind it whose driver also failed to negotiate the curve also overturned and fell into the gorge. In the accident, five people in the two cars died on the spot while five others were injured in the mishap, ASI Kaluram said.

He further informed that all the five deceased are residents of Kurukshetra in Haryana. The deceased have been identified as Chatar Singh alias Sonu son of Sulekhchand Saini resident of Gandapur, Vikas alias Vicky son of Gurmel Singh Jat resident of Jivredi, Sachin son of Rameshwar Das resident of Ghangauri, Rajan son of Shyamsingh Ghangauri and Narendra son of Jagat Singh.

The injured have been identified as Sahil, Rahul, Akash, Arvind and Vimal. Both the vehicles have been completely wrecked in the accident. Soon after the accident, Bhirani police reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. Howeve, by the time the team reached the spot, five of the travelers had succumbed.

The police team took the bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem. The five injured in the accident are being treated at Hisar and Agroha Medical College in Haryana. According to the police, both the cars were coming from Kurukshetra in Haryana to pay obeisance at the Gogamedi temple. Police said that the relatives of the deceased have been informed about the mishap while an investigation has been launched into the incident.
