Jodhpur: A fine of Rs 25,000 was slapped on a family at Phalodi in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district for flouting guest rule at a wedding reception on Wednesday.
According to reports, Mohanlal Bishnoi, Principal of a government school, was fined for inviting more than 50 people to his son as well as daughter's wedding receptions violating the COVID guidelines.
In the rural area of Marwar, there has been a tradition of printing the names of many people, including a large number of relatives, on wedding invitation cards. Following this tradition, Bishnoi got over 300 names printed on the card which led him into trouble.
The Jodhpur administration took the action once the invitation card went viral on social media and slapped the fine.
In the wake of a steep rise in COVID-19 cases, the Rajasthan government has announced new guidelines under which not more than 50 people are allowed to attend wedding ceremonies.
