Udaipur: When a man arrived at a government hospital in Rajasthan complaining of stomach ache, doctors suspected a usual case of ulcer or food poisoning.
However, they were amazed to find the man had swallowed over 80 metal objects including nails, keys and a chillum (smoking pipe)!
The man was admitted in the hospital complaining about a severe stomach ache. A team of four doctors conducted a 90-minute operation and extracted around 80 objects including keys and coins from a mentally-ill patient's stomach on Monday.
"This could be considered a strange case. He was asked to undergo X-ray. We were stunned to see various metal objects including nails inside his stomach," said Dr. DK Sharma, who conducted the operation.
The objects weighed around 800 grams.
"He was an addict. He would have swallowed everything. When he started complaining about continuous pain in the stomach, his family members brought him to the hospital," Sharma said.
The patient is out of danger and is undergoing treatment.
In a similar case last month, doctors had removed 116 nails, long wire and an iron pellet from the stomach of a 40-year-old man.
