Unable to bear the pressure mounted by money lenders, a debt-ridden farmer committed suicide in Rajasthan's Kota district in the early hours of Monday by hanging himself to a tree in his farmland.

Kota: A debt-ridden farmer committed suicide in Rajasthan's Kota district on Monday by hanging himself to a tree in his farmland.

Unable to bear the pressure mounted by money lenders, he decided to take the extreme step of hanging himself to a tree in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased, Dharmaraj Bairwa, a resident of Gehun Kheri village under Bapawar police station limits was found hanging from a tree in the area. The villagers found him hanging following which, they informed the police and his family members about the incident.

As per reports, Bapawar station officer May Japte and station in-charge Umrao Singh Gurjar, who arrived at the spot, after receiving the information, admitted the man to a nearby hospital.

"The farmer was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities. We have registered a case under section 174 Cr.P.C and are investigating the matter," said the station officer.
