Campaign to revive water bodies in Rajasthan

ETV Bharat galvanized hundreds of people in Rajasthan to start the revival of age-old traditional water resources to fight the acute shortage of potable water. Taking up the responsibility, it has launched a movement with the help of thousands of people of Jhunjhunu district. With this initiative, the media house aims to create awareness among generation next to conserve water across the nation.

Jhunjhunu: Water and Rajasthan; there is an untold centuries-old symbiosis between the two.

Rajasthan has been a water-scarce state and the people of the desert state know how to utilise and conserve water for the next generation.

The traditional sources of water like ponds, and 'bawadis' are still in use to provide drinking water to the people of the state that has successfully survived the stress of less water as compared to other states or regions of India.

The new generation, which is a bit ignorant and carefree about the problem that could be life threatening, must be informed and educated.

To bring back the focus on the issue, the ETV Bharat, a major media brand of the country, has stated a campagin to revive water resources in rajasthan by creating awareness at all levels.

Thousands of people, local parties and the administration, all have come forward to support the nobal campaign.

To promote and conserve ponds and 'bawdis' in the state, the media house approached village panchayats and other bodies. Hundreds of the villagers responded positively and all possible resources are being mobilised to revive 'Banke ki Johdi,' ponds and other water bodies in the district. Local colleges and schools also extended support to take the movement forward.

District collector also participated in the initiative and promised to take up the issue with the state government.
