Bundi bus accident: Affected families demand 'good compensation'

Bundi bus accident affected families have demanded the Rajasthan government to provide better compensation by stating that elders and children left behind would not be able to survive following financial crises. Some of the families have also urged the government to provide them with jobs.

Bundi: Family members of Rajasthan's Bundi bus accident victims on Thursday have demanded a reasonable compensation to ensure a decent life for those who are left behind, especially the children. At least 24 people were killed and 15 were injured after their bus fell into a river on Wednesday.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh each to the next of the kin of deceased as well as compensation of Rs 40,000 to the injured.

The deceased included 11 women and three children as well as critically injured were admitted to a hospital in Kota.

Speaking exclusively with ETV Bharat, family members of the deceased stated that they were not satisfied with the compensation amount provided by the state government as they are financially weak and it would be difficult to raise the kids without their parents who died in the accident.

Most of the affected families lost their earning members and they are either left with elders or children.

"We want the government to help us by ensuring a good amount of money as compensation so that financial needs of the affected are taken care of," one of the family members of the deceased said.

Meanwhile, some families also demanded jobs to sustain their living.
