Barmer (Rajasthan): A suspected Pakistani intruder was killed by BSF personnel along the India-Pakistan International border, while he was trying to cross the border in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Saturday.
As per reports, the incident took place around 1 am when the man was trying to sneak into the Indian territory. The officials said that the intruder was gunned down by the BSF men after he ignored repeated warnings to surrender near the fence at the International border.
While confirming the incident, Barmer SP Anand Sharma said that BSF and top police officers have reached the Bakhasar area along the border.
"The intruder was shot dead when he was seen climbing the border fence and a BSF patrol team challenged him," he added.
Pakistani authorities refused to accept the dead body and BSF has called a "flag meeting" with Pakistan Rangers on Saturday to discuss the matter.
It is to be noted that the BSF is on high alert in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations in the country.
Earlier on Aug 5, four smugglers were arrested from the border and BSF had seized fake Indian currency notes of Rs 60 lakh from them.
"The smugglers are being investigated," Sharma added.
