Dholpur (Rajasthan): An attempt was made to kidnap a married woman in a Bolero vehicle near a police checkpoint located in Gumat in Bari town while she was going for work in a private nursing home.
A 30-year-old woman thwarted the abduction bid at Bari in Dholpur district on Sunday when at least five persons attempted to kidnap her.
Later, an E-Mitra operator helped and stood in front of the miscreants. The miscreants left the girl and ran away in the Bolero.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, some police constables arrived at the scene and brought the young woman to the police station.
Rajasthan Police has filed a case on the basis of a woman's complaint in which she accused a relative of attempting to kidnap her. The police lodged the case on the basis of CCTV recording of the incident.
The survivor said, "I regularly walk to the hospital but on that day I went a bit late around 10 am. A car followed me and some people pulled me and pushed me down and then forced me into the car. By this time a crowd had gathered and I managed to somehow struggle out of the vehicle," she said.
The young women added: "I have differences with my husband and I was married to Sahab Singh in Rachua village, UP, Jagner about 11 years ago, he used to beat me. Now for the past five to six years, I am not living with him. The husband of my sister-in-law was in the car who attempted to kidnap me. I have registered a case with the police."
When the woman was fiercely fighting the accused, people were seen watching the spectacle. When she could not find any support, she entered into an E-MITRA centre nearby and requested an operator to call the police and save her.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
