Asiatic lion Siddharth dies at Rajasthan's Nahargarh Biological Park, cremated

Asiatic lion, Siddharth in Nahargarh Biological Park, which was found dead on Wednesday morning, died due to liver-related ailments, the post-mortem has found. The lion was cremated after an autopsy.

Jaipur: An eight-year-old Asiatic lion, Siddharth died at the Nahargarh Biological Park in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Wednesday due to liver-related ailments. The lion was cremated after an autopsy, an official said.

According to a Biological Park official, "Since June 6, lion Siddharth was not eating and drinking and his health was deteriorating. After which blood samples of him were taken which have been sent to IVRI Bareilly for investigation."

"Siddharth was constantly being treated but he died today even after a million attempts by the doctors. The problem was also reported in lion's liver and kidney, the official said.

"Siddharth was cremated on Wednesday. Earlier the day, the forest department followed the standard operating procedure prescribed for dealing with lion's death and held a post-mortem by a medical board," official added.

Reportedly, Asiatic lion Siddharth, who was a major attraction at the park, was brought from Junagadh in the year 2012. After that with the opening of Nahargarh Biological Park in the year 2016.
