New Delhi: The Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) has sought permission to carry out survey in parts of Rajasthan to find uranium.
Fifteen districts of Rajasthan have been marked where possibility of finding uranium is good. These districts include Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Sikar, Alwar. Pali, Bhilwara, and others.
The proposed survey, to be conducted by the AMD, would start next month.
In 2012, the AMD had found 6726 tons of uranium in Sikar district of the state and in case the agency is able to find expected amount of uranium, India may become self-sufficient in uranium production.
