Jhalawar (Rajasthan): Five people of a labourer's family sleeping outside on the road were crushed to death after the erring driver of a speeding dumper lost control of the vehicle and ran over them. The deceased include husband-wife and their 3 children. The unfortunate incident occurred in Jhalawar late on Wednesday night when the family was deep asleep. Following the incident, the driver left the dumper and fled from the scene.
According to police, the accident took place near Badbela village on Tindhar Mandavar road of Jhalawar district, wherein a family living in the Ghatoli area was sleeping outside their makeshift tent on the roadside. Late in the night, at around quarter to twelve, a speeding dumper veered off the road and ran over the family. The incident was so horrific that the husband-wife and their 3 children died on the spot. At the same time, 2 other children who were sleeping at some distance from the labourer's family had a narrow escape.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the age of the children who died was below 10. Mandawar police station personnel said that the bodies were shifted to SRG Hospital for post-mortem and later it will be taken to the mortuary.
