3 drown in pond being built under MGNREGA scheme

Three women died as they slipped into a pond where they worked as labourers under MGNREGA scheme. One more, who took seriously ill in the incident, is being treated.

Nagaur: Three women drowned and one got seriously ill after one of them slipped into a pond and the other three jumped into it to save her, police said.

The incident took place in Bavadi village of the district where they worked under the MGNREGA scheme on the pond, they said.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem while the one who lost consciousness, is being treated at a hospital.

The government officials, including the SDM, reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Further probe is on, the police said.
