11 members of Pakistani migrant family found dead in Jodhpur, lone survivor suspects murder

Jodhpur Police recovered bodies of eleven members of a Pakistan Hindu migrant family from their hut on Sunday. The family belonging to the Bhil community had come to India from Pakistan's Sindh in 2015 on a long-term visa, they had been living in Jodhpur for the past six months.

Jodhpur: It was not a suicide but murder, said the lone survivor of the 12-member Pakistani migrant family whose bodies were recovered from their hut in Jodhpur.

Keval Ram was found alive outside his hut in Lodta village of Dechu area, while all other members including four women and five children lay dead inside.

"I had dinner with my family on Saturday and left for the field. Everything was fine until then," Keval Ram said, adding that, "When I came back at around 6.30 in the morning, I found my entire family dead."

"I then called my nephew who rushed to the spot with some other persons and informed police," said Kewal Ram, expressing his ignorance about the incident.

He said that he found several injections lying beside the bodies.

In further enquiry, he informed that he and his brother had been married in Pakistan and had come to India in 2015.

Due to some personal conflicts, his wife's family had stopped visiting them.

"They had also threatened my sister and said that they would end my entire family," Keval Ram said.

"Packets of the pills were found near the hut where they had all dined the previous night" a police official said.

There was neither any injury mark on any of the bodies nor any evidence of foul play," he added.

Further investigation into whether the case is murder or suicide is still underway.

The family belonging to the Bhil community had come to India from Sanghar district of Pakistan's Sindh in 2015 on a long-term visa. They had been living at the Lodta village farm, which they had hired for farming, for the past six months.

Those, who died have been identified as Budharam (75); his wife Antara Devi; son Ravi (31); daughters Jiya (25) and Suman (22); grandsons Mukdash (17) and Nain (12); Laxmi (40) and three minor sons of Kewal Ram.

Meanwhile, Kewal Ram lodged a complaint against his wife's family.

Jodhpur MP and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat lashed out at the state government, saying the incident raises a question mark over the "working style" of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The deceased include two men, four women and five children. One after other, very frightening incidents reflecting the deteriorating situation of the state, are coming to the fore. The government should swing into action and clear the picture," Shekhawat tweeted.

The president of the Seemant Lok Sangathan, Hindu Singh Sodha, demanded a fair probe into the incident. He also spoke to the survivor and police officers.
