New Delhi: Construction work for the Kartarpur Passenger Terminal Complex at Dera Baba Nanak is 'on full swing' and is nearing completion, an official press release said on Friday.
According to the plan, the work is scheduled to be completed by October 31, before the commemoration of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak in November this year.
The 15-acre terminal will cater to approximately 5,000 passengers per day and will ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan. The terminal will be replete with all public amenities and adequate facilities for immigration and customs clearance.
The work is nearing completion Being built at a cost of Rs 500 crore, the complex will have robust security systems with CCTV surveillance and other advanced security systems along with adequate parking space.
Excavation for the foundation is nearing completion while the plinth and column RCC has already begun on the main passenger building, while vendors and subcontractors for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works have been finalised.
Further, architecture schools in Amritsar have been approached for the installation of 'rich Punjabi heritage' in the building and for the landscaping of the complex, the release added.

The construction works at the site for Passenger Terminal Complex at Dera Baba Nanak, Punjab for Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is on full swing.
The works of the construction is carried out by one of the most renowned builders of India M/S Shapoorji & Pallonji Pvt Ltd. under the supervision of Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI),MHA.
The work has been planned to be completed by 31st October before the commemoration of 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November 2019.
Passenger terminal Building has been designed by M/s Creative Architecture having experience of designed and building of more than 8 Airport terminals apart from many other state of art buildings.
The terminal is being built on around 15 acres of land with comprehensive facilities to cater for approximately 5000 passengers per day for smooth of movement of pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) with all public amenities and adequate facilities for immigration and customs clearance.
The complex will have the robust security systems with CCTV surveillance and other advance security systems and adequate parking space for 10 buses, 250 Cars, and 250 two- wheelers. The area will be developed with amalgamation of rich Indian cultures and state of art infrastructure with eye soothing landscaping. More than Rs 500 Cr shall been spent for the development of this Complex.
Construction works for the Passenger Terminal Complex is on full swing with more than 250 labours and 30 engineers at site working in 3 shifts.
All the required machinery and supporting site infrastructure like DG sets, site test lab, Porta office and batch mixing plant having capacity of more than 300 Cubic meter per day.
Excavation for the foundation is nearly complete for the whole complex while the Plinth and column RCC has already started for the main Passenger building. Works are being executed in parallel to ensure simultaneous completion of different activities.
The construction of this Pre-engineered building mainly envisage the plinth, foundation and columns while rest of the steel structure shall be fabricated separately at other factory location and shall be directly transported to site and installed as it is.
Vendors and subcontractors for mechanical, electrical and plumbing works has been finalised and the orders for the steel structure, glazing and aluminum sheeting for roofing has been placed. Vendor for air-condition, heating & ventilation has also been finalised.
Architecture schools at Amritsar has been approached for putting up the rich Punjabi heritage, the life and works of Shri Guru Nanak Devji in the state of art building and for the land-scaping of the complex.
