Stones pelted at Mumbai-Amritsar Mail 12903 during midnight; probe on

The Golden Temple Mail Train coming from Mumbai to Amritsar was stoned near Jandiyala a while after midnight on Saturday, sources said. Some glass windows of coaches were found broken. The Railway Police began an investigation into the incident.

Amritsar (Punjab) : Unknown youths threw stones at the Golden Temple Mail Train number 12903 coming from Mumbai to Amritsar on Saturday night. Although there were no injuries to anybody, the incident created chaos among the passengers inside the car. After reaching Amritsar at 11.23 pm, the Railway Police started an investigation into this matter and enquired from the passengers about what happened.

According to the information, the train left its originating station in Mumbai on May 12. On the night of May 13, this train left Beas railway station at 12.45 pm. After a few minutes, the sound of stones hitting the train loudly made the passengers panicky. The situation became more sensitive when stones fell on the glass windows of AC coaches B1 and B2 of the train.

Following this, there was an atmosphere of fear among the passengers of the train. The Railway police started an investigation after registering a case against unknown youths. In the preliminary probe, it was revealed that the stone pelting took place near Jandiala. The passengers were jolted out of their sleep as the incident took place moments after midnight. The Railway Police passed on the information to the local police.

In another incident a few days ago, unidentified persons pelted stones at the Vande Bharat Express train at Kannur in Kerala. That incident took place just days after the train was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following this, scratches left by the stones were noticed on the coaches of the train. Officials said that the incident took place when the train was passing through Valapattanam.
