Two killed, four injured in Amritsar scrap blast

Two have been killed, and four injured after a blast occurred at a junk dealer in Amritsar on Monday evening. Senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill and DCP Jagmohan Singh, reached the spot.

Amritsar: Two persons were killed and 4 injured in a blast at a junk dealer in the Luv Kush Nagar area in Amritsar on Monday evening.

The deceased were identified as Rattan Lal and Rajinder Kumar.

Among the injured was a home guard jawan, Gurnam Singh. The other injured were Manjit Kaur, Tarsem Lal, his son Vijay and a minor boy, Ladi. They were rushed to Civil Hospital here.

The home guard jawan was deputed at the site when junk material, reportedly including some explosive as well, was being shifted from Cantonment police station, it is alleged.

Senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill and DCP Jagmohan Singh, reached the spot.

A dog squad and a bomb squad besides a forensic team have been pressed into service.
