New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continues with his efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis within the party's Punjab unit as he has been meeting with the state leaders for the last three consecutive days at his residence in the national capital.
On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi met Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar, Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa and state's Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal to know their opinions regarding the rift within the Punjab unit.
While speaking to the media, Jakhar showed confidence that the current crisis will be resolved soon. He also criticized Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu for making controversial statements against the Punjab CM, saying that it would have been better if he had raised such issues within the party forum.
However, when asked about the controversy over CM's announcement of giving Government jobs to two MLA's sons, Jakhar said, "For me, it is wrong. I have made this point before party high command as well. I think some wrong people are giving ill-advises to CM these days."
After the meeting, Bajwa told the reporters that it was a thread-based discussion with Rahul Gandhi. He claimed that within the period of one week, the ongoing crisis will be resolved within Punjab Congress.

The high command will decide about the chief ministerial face for 2022 assembly election," he said. Bajwa is also one of the leaders who is being critical of Capt Amrinder Singh's leadership.
Meanwhile, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat, who is also a member of the AICC panel, constituted to resolve the feud, said that the report has been submitted to party high command and a reply is being expected by July 8-10. He also informed that the panel may also call Sidhu again for a meeting.
