Punjab police DGP Dinkar Gupta was also present at the hospital to boost Singh's morale, who was stepping out of the health centre weeks after his hand was dismembered by 'Nihangs'.
Along with expressing gratitude towards the hospital authorities for helping in speedy recovery, Singh also appealed to the countrymen to stand with the frontline workers in this hour of crisis.
Simultaneously, Punjab police appointed ASI Harjeet Singh's son Arshpreet Singh as a constable. DGP Gupta personally handed over the appointment letter to Harjeet Singh.
The latest development was shared by the DGP of Punjab Police via his twitter handle.
The discharge came days after, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh shared a video of him recovering at the hospital and said the cop’s left hand, which was successfully re-implanted after an eight-hour surgery, is regaining movement gradually.
Earlier this week, Police chiefs of at least four states and over 79,000 personnel in Punjab wore badges Singh's name in a show of solidarity against the Patiala attack.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police had also launched a day-long campaign 'MainBhiHarjeetSingh', which received an overwhelming response with noted Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan and cricketer Harbhajan Singh posting videos on social media in support of the sub-Inspector.
On April 12, the officer’s hand was chopped off with a sword and two other Punjab policemen were injured when a group of Nihangs attacked them after being asked to show curfew passes at a vegetable market in Patiala district.
